What is CoQ10? The Benefits to Skin & Weight Loss

CoQ10, also known as ubiquinone or coenzyme Q, is an enzyme produced naturally in the human body, found in every cell and tissue. It is involved a number of biological functions including helping to produce energy, neutralizing free radicals, and keeping cells both inside the body and in the skin healthy.

A young body has the ability to produce as much CoQ10 as it needs. However, various factors such as aging and stress can lower levels of CoQ10. As a result, the ability of cells to regenerate and withstand stress declines.

Because CoQ10 decline correlates with the aging process, it is regarded as one of the most accurate biomarkers of aging.

CoQ10 Treatments

There are several important roles CoQ10 plays in your body. CoQ10 is vital for many chemical reactions in cells; in fact, it helps produce 95% of your body’s energy. Without these types of biochemical reactions, your cells would be unable to grow and divide.

Many doctors and researchers also believe this particular enzyme can help treat many illnesses and aid in weight loss. There is a great deal research being conducted on how CoQ10 can help find future treatments for a variety of ailments. There is already evidence that suggests CoQ10 can be used to treat:

  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Heart Disease
  • Cancer
  • High Blood Pressure

Using CoQ10 to benefit your skin

In addition to its internal benefits, CoQ10 can also play a role in making skin look younger. CoQ10 levels decrease as you get older. Indeed, most women over thirty have below optimum levels of CoQ10 in the skin. The lack of CoQ10 results in an impeded ability to produce collagen and elastin. Collagen is important because it makes your skin firm, while elastin gives your skin flexibility. The loss of collagen and elastin causes your skin to wrinkle and sag.

CoQ10 also helps the skin by acting as a strong antioxidant. It helps to neutralize the harmful free radicals that are one of the major causes of aging. Thus, the age-related decline in CoQ10 also your skin is more prone to damage by free radicals.

Using topical anti-aging creams that contain CoQ10 can effectively help fight the signs of aging. The CoQ10 in the treatment can penetrate deeply to provide antioxidants and help create collagen and elastin.

Using CoQ10 to aid in weight loss

salmonAs you age, just as your skin changes, your whole body changes as well. You may start to find both fine lines and wrinkles on your skin and extra pounds on your body. The lack of CoQ10 can play a role not only your skin condition, but in your weight as well.

Since CoQ10 assists in the production of energy by the cells, a deficiency can contribute to lower energy levels and a slower metabolism. Many people believe that CoQ10 production decreasing with age helps explains one reason why older people may find it harder to lose weight.

Research even shows that an insufficient amount of CoQ10 is a contributing factor in some cases of obesity. Recent tests have found a CoQ10 deficiency in some of the obese subjects. When these subjects with low CoQ10 levels were given CoQ10 supplements, they were found to have an easier time losing some of the extra pounds.

  5. I’ve had weakness issues associated with cardiovascular surgery (4-way bipass 1995), so much so that I have been placed on medical disability. If the wife and I go to Walmart and just walk around–it does me in and I have to come home to go to bed.

I saw a commercial about CoQ10 on TV. I then went on line and found this site. I plan to use this product although I do not know if there is any significant difference from this product as compared to a Walmart or Walgreen’s version.

If any of these products show a respectful change in my energy levels, I shall return to report my findings to you.

Just incase if there are any of you that are like me; I alos suffer from advanced diabetes (neuropothy of the extremeties) high sugar levels even with insulin. I have been diabetic ever since my heart operation which makes me wonder if the operation did not lead to this disease since I had no medical findings of diabetes until after the operation.

I hope to come back on line within three months–have to wait untill my disability check arrives to order this.
