Pore Refining Moisturizer

Although the original size of everyone’s pores is determined by genetics and can’t be changed, that doesn’t mean that pores can’t look smaller. Simple steps like washing the face once or twice daily with a gentle cleanser, washing off makeup before bed, and not unnecessarily touching the face can help keep pores from becoming enlarged. For many people, though, these routines aren’t enough to keep pores looking small and attractive.

Pore refining moisturizers like Perricone MD‘s Ceramic Skin Smoother can help refine the appearance of pores when regular skin care isn’t enough. The Perricone acne treatment makes pores looks less obvious by using  microspheres to fill in excess space in the pores and create a more even appearance. These microsphere’s combined with the Ceramic Skin Smoother’s skin beneficial ingredients, like DMAE, leaves the skin healthier and smoother looking.

  • Key ingredients of Ceramic Skin Smoother

Key ingredients of Ceramic Skin Smoother

DMAE

  • Firms and tones
  • Restores facial contour
  • Anti-inflammatory

DMAE’s effects come from its ability to tighten and firm skin. DMAE works by boosting production of acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter responsible for triggering reactions in muscles, and thus creating muscle tone. An increase in acetylcholine in the muscles of the face from DMAE results in an increase in muscle tone. Since facial muscles keep skin tight and smooth, more muscle tone means firmer, smoother skin.

DMAE is an ingredient that achieves an overall positive effect on skin, no matter the specific concern. Because of these great benefits, DMAE is a crucial ingredient in our skin care products.

Beta Glucans and Xylitol

  • Lock moisture in the skin

Beta glucans have a number of clinical applications, including but not limited to:

  • Cancer treatments
  • Preventing infections
  • Radiation exposure treatments
  • Reducing septic shock
  • Aiding in surgery
  • Wound healing
  • Arthritis

And, of course, beta glucans can help the skin. Beta glucan compounds have such a diverse range of applications because of their unique properties. They are though of as “biological defense moderators” because they are one source of activation for the immune system.

Beta glucans work by:

  • Enhancing immune ability, including producing NK cells, T cells and B cells (all types of immune cells)
  • Producing macrophage immune cells

Macrophages produced by beta glucans engulf and destroy other dangerous foreign cells in the body. This applies to pores and skin because bacteria on the skin are a major part of the pore clogging process. Beta glucans can help the body rid itself of bacteria and other harmful substances before they can clog pores.

Xylitol is a sugar alcohol most used a sugar substitute. Xylitol’s role in skin care comes from the fact that bacteria in the body attach themselves to sugar structures. However, because of its chemical composition as a sugar alcohol, xylitol prevents bacteria from binding. Just as as with beta glucans, less bacteria means less pore-clogging potential.

Microspheres

  • Instantly reduce appearance of fine lines and enlarged pores
  • Smooth skin’s surface

Microspheres are tiny particles that resemble nonliving cells. Micropsheres reproduce asexually by budding but do not carry any genetic material. They are able to aid in reducing the appearance of pores because of these cell-like properties. Because they are so small and resemble cells, microspheres can fill in space in large pores and make them look smaller.

Fullerenes

  • Power antioxidant
  • Soothe skin
  • Improve appearance of imperfect skin

Fullerenes (also known as buckminsterfullerenes or C-60) are a carbon allotrope whose discovery in 1996 earned a Nobel Prize. Dr. Perricone believes fullerences are a helpful ingredient because they are free radical scavengers and are able to stabilize these damaging cells.

Combined, these four key ingredients allow the Ceramic Skin Smoother (and also the Ceramic Eye Smoother) to work to refine pores, reduce the appearance of enlarged pores, and keep the skin moisturized and healthy.
