Oprah Works With Perricone M.D. To Eat Healthy

Eating well affects you in every way of your daily life. Because of this, Oprah supports Perricone M.D.’s list of superfoods. Oprah is always an advocate of good health and taking care of your body, so by using these superfoods that she and Dr. Perricone recommend, you can better manage your health, live longer, and love your life.

So what are they these amazing life saving superfoods that Perricone M.D. recommends you start eating?

Fruit – Are you eating the right one?

Açai berry is a rare energy fruit found in the Amazon Rain Forest in the palm trees. This fruit has at least 10 times more antioxidants than others and helps promote cardiovascular, digestive health, muscle contraction, and regeneration. This berry has a fatty acid content comparable to olive oil and keeps the cell membranes supple and functioning efficiently.

Eating açaí also lowers insulin levels which prevents inflammatory states (thus, preventing aging).

Add this to your diet because this berry tastes like a blend of berries and chocolate; can anyone say yum?

Try Perricone for as little at $10.

Vegetables – Which are the best for you?

All greens are good for you, but cereal grasses are best because of their nutrient density. Cereal grasses, like barley grass and wheat grass, act like antioxidants and reduce inflammation, while they’re also thought to attack cancer cells in the body.

Hot Peppers are superfoods because of the Capsaicinoidscompounds in them that make them anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-cancer, and heart-healthy. These plants have been estimated to have been around for 7,000 years and have transformed cuisines in so many cultures.

Sprouts grow from seeds of vegetables, grains, legumes, buckwheat, and beans and are packed with enzymes that are needed in the body that decline as you age. These highly nutritious foods can grow year round and vary in texture, hardiness, as well as spiciness. They are traditionally used in salads and sandwiches, but these protein-rich plants make a great addition to almost any cuisine.

Allium is the vegetable family that includes onions, garlic, chives, leeks, shallots, and scallions. They consist of flavonoids that stimulate the production of glutathione which eliminate toxins and carcinogens in the body.

  • Onions – contain 2 powerful antioxidants (sulphur and quercetin) which neutralize free radicals and prevent cell damage.
  • Leeks – in addition to the allium family’s characteristics, also contain: Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Folate, Manganese, Iron, and Fiber

Buckwheat is a seed from broadleaf plants and is a great replacement for rice, wheat, and corn because of the lower glycemic level in it. It is commonly mistaken for a grain but can more accurately be compared to rhubarb as it comes from the seed of a broadleaf plant related to Rhubarb. This is the biggest cholesterol lowerer as is reduces and stabilizes blood sugars. This nutty flavored food makes a great addition to hot cereals for breakfast or as a healthy substitute for wheat pasta for dinner.

Seeds, nuts, and beans

Seeds and nuts are inherently high in good fat (providing amazing health benefits) and are therefore the right calories you want to consume; however, they are great for weight control and heart health. They are also a good source of protein and can help prevent certain types of cancer.

Beans and lentils are so important that they show up on 2 places of the food pyramid. These foods are very low in fat, calories, and sodium, while they are rich in complex carbohydrates and dietary fiber, which are great for your digestive system and weight management.

Kefir and yogurt’s natural probiotic feature is what scientists consider to be instrumental to the survival of the human species because of the countless things it helps the body do, such as keeping your digestive system clean.

In sum, the benefits of these Perricone M.D. superfoods include:

  • Helping protect against heart disease and cancer
  • Helping regulate metabolism and body fat
  • Helping protect organs from toxins
  • Lowering total cholesterol and blood pressure
  • Promoting digestive health
  • Reducing and even preventing inflammation

And if you don’t have time to prepare a meal with some of these great superfoods, Dr. Perricone makes it easy by including them in his 99 Bite Bars to grab on the go.

Now that you know great superfoods that will help you live longer and be healthier, be sure to try them out and share how they affected you. Oprah and Dr. Perricone want you to take care of yourself and manage your health so you can be a better you.

  1. I am trying the three day diet for the first time. I am a triathlete and consume large portions of foods. I am addicted to carbohydrates and eat eziekiel bread and pasta and rice and potatoes. First always to the carbs. I am genuinely sincere about seeing what this diet will cause to change.

It is a drastic caloric reduction for me as well.
