Olive Skin Tone: Treat Dark Under Eye Circles with Perricone MD Advanced Eye Area Therapy

Olive skin tone tans easily, but burn-free skin can still be damaged. As you age, your skin will show hyperpigmentation and blotches on cheeks and along the hairline, as early as your mid-20s. Those with olive skin tone are also likely to see dark under eye circles so eye treatments like Perricone MD Advanced Eye Area Therapy can help.

With slightly more pigment than lighter Caucasian skin, this skin has more sun protection than lighter skin, but has less of an exaggerated hyperpigmentation response to inflammation. Olive skin tone tends to be less prone to scarring and is oilier which means it avoids oxidative stress inherent in dry skin.

The oil and melanin helps delay the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. However, the active oil glands can increase the onset and degree of acne outbreaks. However, olive skin can tolerate aggressive anti-acne treatments without the risk of developing patches of discoloration.

You should use a liquid cleanser suitable for oily skin types, such as Perricone Skin Clear Cleanser, and use oil-free skin care products. Alpha lipoic acid will help shrink the appearance of enlarged pores due to overactive oil glands.

Apply sunscreen every day and be sure to use an eye product that contains alpha lipoic acid to help diminish the dark under eye circles that are common for olive skin tone types. Perricone MD Advanced Eye Area Therapy is an eye treatment formulated with alpha lipoic acid as well as DMAE and vitamin C ester to help increase firmness and elasticity.

  1. i have olive skin and have within the past 5 yrs noticed dark circles under my eyes . I have tried a number of fade cremes over the counter and prescription 4% hydroquine but nothing works . And wearing concealer ends up caky or gray which makes the situation worse. My boyfriend says this makes me look older than i am i just had my first child and would like to look like vibrant and healthy and not worn down and seasoned.i would love a sample of this product!

  3. I am in my 50s and am struggling with hyperpigmentation. I have olive skin and hail originally from Cape Town, South Africa. I have been living in Texas for the past 12 years. When I arrived in Texas I only had a few dark spots on my cheeks. My dermatologist put me on an Obagi regime. Although I diligently used sunscreen and a wide-brim sun hat my hyperpigmentation got worse. I used Philosophy and DDF products, but I am not seeing any improvement. I am now “condemned” to using heavy make-up to cover up my dark spots every time I leave the front door. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

  4. I Have an olive skin complexion and I’ve had alot of comments about the dark tone beneath my eyes especially in the winter. I have started using concealor but its not good enough. I thought it was just due to tiredness and a family member reckons it is due to a difficency in something. I want them to fade atleast. Im only 21. I want to try your product if possible. Im very interested In your product

  5. I have always been complimented on my olive skin ever since I can remember. My skin and eyes look beautiful in the summer when I have tanned, but in the winter my eyes get these horrible dark circles. I’m only 25 and would love to try this product. I have yet to find anything that helps my problem. So far concealer has been my best friend in the drab winter months and even that doesn’t help a lot.

  6. I would love to try this out as I have beautiful olive skin and would be ideal for this

  7. Although I do not have olive-toned skin, with my very light skin my dark circles are quite apparent. I have had a tough time with finding a cream, powder, or stick that would cover my dreaded dark circles without creating a caking and drying result on my under-eye area. This sounds like the answer and I would be ever greatful for the opportunity to try this and spread the word exponentially if it works for me! Thanks for your time.

  8. Why would people come on here to say that they should try it? what a stupid thing to say. don’t make a comment unless you’ve tried the product, used it for a sufficient amount of time to see whether it works or not and then make a comment. every single post here (other than mine) is useless. sheesh!

  9. Hi,

I really want to try this product because I’ve been suffering from those dark circle under my eyes since I was a teenager. I will definitely tell my friend if this product works cause she also suffer from dark circle too.

  10. Growing up near the beach in Florida, I have been careful about skin protection for quite some time. However, the dark circles underneath my eyes simply won’t fade! I currently use a Philosophy product during the day (that supposedly fades dark circles/ shadows) and a de-puffing eye gel at night (by Ole Henricksen). Though I have been using these products for about a month, I haven’t noticed a dramatic difference in my under-eye circles. I love Dr. Perricone’s use of science and health to explain his products and anti-imflammatory lifestyle. This product just might be the one for me.

  11. Has anyone tried this yet? Curious to know if it works as I haven’t found a product yet that really works for dark circles.

  12. I think this product would do wonders for myself. I have dark circles, and have a hard time trying to conceal them. Thank you for this product!

  13. I’m a 40 year old mother of twins that looks WAY older than necessary. My skin is slightly darker than fair, clear, but starting to go ‘crepey.’ I love trying new products, and I am a beauty junkie!
