Neuropeptide Skin Treatments: A Powerful Solution

Neuropeptides are best known for the biochemical role they play in the brain, but their importance extends beyond the chemistry lab. They can also have a place in your daily beauty regimen. Neuropeptide skin treatments have the power to help reverse signs of aging such as dull skin, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and sagging skin.

Assessing both the biological and cosmeceutical properties of neuropeptides will help you understand and harness their anti-aging potential.

This article will discuss:

  • Science behind neuropeptide treatments
  • How Neuropeptide Y affects the skin
  • Neuropeptide topical treatments

The Science Behind Neuropeptide Treatments

Neuropeptides occur naturally in the body. They are composed of over 40 amino acid molecules chained together by a peptide bond made possible by a chemical reaction.

Neuropeptides are present in the central and peripheral nervous system where they perform a variety of tasks. However, their most important function is transmitting signals to and from cells like an information highway in your body. Neuropeptides act as messengers between neurons and affect the transmission of nerve impulses. Thus, these multi-taskers affect organs, tissues, and other parts of the body making them an essential part of all cellular functions.

Neuropeptides play a role in:

  • Mood
  • Energy level
  • Pain and pleasure responses
  • Body weight
  • Problem solving abilities
  • Immune system regulation
  • Skin cell function
  • Memory formation

How Neuropeptide Y Affects the Skin

At first glance, it may not be clear what a neurological hormone has anything to do with skin. The key lies in the relationship between neuropeptides and inflammatory processes in the body. In order to better understand how neuropeptides affect the skin, it is important to first differentiate between the two types of neuropeptides: Substance P and Neuropeptide Y. These two types of neuropeptides are in a sense engaged in a battle.

Substance P

Substance P sends out pain signals and causes inflammation that has detrimental effects on the skin. Fortunately, Neuropeptide Y combats the negative effect of substance P by blocking its production and promoting anti-inflammatory effects in the skin.
Anti-inflammatory neuropeptides can increase:

  • Production of collagen and elastin
  • Circulation
  • Overall radiance
  • Resilience of skin

Neuropeptide Y

Neuropeptide Y promotes anti-inflammatory and anti-aging effects by sending messages to the protein molecules that trigger cellular rejuvenation and skin repair. This increases the production of collagen in the skin. The production of collagen decreases as skin ages, resulting in the loss of elasticity and the appearance of wrinkles.

Anti-inflammatory neuropeptides can repair:

  • Skin damage
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Sagging skin
  • Scars

Neuropeptide Topical Treatments

Dr. Perricone offers several topical treatments that utilize the versatile power of neuropeptides to treat the signs of aging. Because they’re so powerful, neuropeptides are among the most sophisticated anti-aging treatments for advanced skin concerns. When neuropeptide treatments are applied to the skin, they can help to combat and prevent wrinkles, sagging skin, and crepiness.
By incorporating neuropeptide topical treatments into your daily beauty regimen, you can achieve noticeable improvements in the appearance of your skin through:

  • Increased cellular functioning and circulation
  • Improved skin tone, resiliency, and firmness
  • Reduced deep lines and wrinkles

The Neuropeptide Facial Conformer combats the loss of elasticity by rehydrating and re-energizing the skin. In addition to neuropeptides, it also utilizes the anti-aging ingredients DMAE and phospholipids.

These ingredients work together to activate the surface renewal of the skin by encouraging cellular rejuvenation. This treatment can improve resiliency and diminish the appearance of deep lines and wrinkles. It offers antioxidant protection and works as a complement to any of the neuropeptide treatments.

  1. Hi Im 61 yrs old, but look ten yrs younger, I dont have any deep wrinkles except for laugh lines which I inherited from my Dad. I would love be become a tester, being that I tried many wrinkle creams and was disappointed. By the way just noticed a fine line on my forehead lol Thanks

  2. I would like to be a tester because I am still working at the age of 69 and need to continue to compete in the marketplace. I have used some of the products in the past but would like to experience the complete line to test the results.

  3. No age has yet caused me alarm, but I turn 60 in 2011 and, although I don’t FEEL that old, I’m afraid my forehead and mouth wrinkles make me LOOK it (or at least 55, anyway:) I had hoped to inherit my 92-year-old mother’s youthful looking skin, but, alas, looks like I got the wrinkle genes from some distant ancestor. SO, I would LOVE to test the Neuropeptide Skin Treatment since no other product I’ve tried has successfully diminnished those pesky wrinkles.

  4. I like to be product tester to try them please. Thanks.
