Inflammation is a result of a number of factors including a pro-inflammatory diet that includes bad fats and sugars.

Low-level inflammation makes cells less responsive to the hormone leptin, which helps guard against weight gain by promoting your metabolism and controlling your appetite. This makes losing weight harder.

According to Dr. Perricone, low-grade, invisible inflammation also causes loss of muscle as you age, insulin resistance, and exacerbates fat storage. And unfortunately, many weight loss diets cause additional muscle loss.

The inability to utilize blood sugar and insulin effectively leads to the body’s loss of muscle and storage of fat. If blood sugar levels are too low, muscles cannot be nourished and begin to break down, causing a loss in muscle mass. Ingesting sugar and foods that rapidly convert to sugar (i.e. high-glycemic carbs) results in a rapid rise in blood sugar, which consequently causes high levels of insulin to be released. To get rid of sugar, your body burns it, but the sugar that can’t be burned turns into glycogen. Once glycogen reserves are full, excess sugar gets stored as fat.

Stored fat cells lead to more inflammation as they serve as a place for inflammatory chemicals to develop. The new inflammatory chemicals that trigger inflammation result in additional storage of body fat, continuing the cycle. This means that the more stored body fat a person has, the greater its negative influence on the entire body.

  5. I need this because the excess weight aggravates my PCOS and Insulin Resistance, which in turn causes my body to store more fat, especially abdominal.

It’s not easy to lose weight especially when you’ve got kids already and all in the ceasarian section during birth and then you have to skip from breastfeeding because your milk is not sufficient for them! Then I met this blog that helped me realize it isn’t really hard at all! In their I found the complete diet information which have become useful and meaningful to me since then. :-)

  7. As far as weight goes, I have struggled my entire life. I will admit that when I actually buckled down and tried, I lost weight fairly easy but as soon as I strayed from my plan, the weight came back and then some. After having two children I find it extremly hard to shed pounds especially around the “baby pouch”. I have tried many diets and supplements, but nothing really works for me.
