Effective Ingredients in Firming Moisturizer

Moisturizing is important because the skin survives by carrying out hundreds of biochemical reactions. The reactions are chemical transactions involving molecules, and most of these reactions only proceed if water or oil are present.

Lack of water in or around cells disrupts normal metabolism and tissue repair, and therefore dehydrated skin is less able to repair and regenerate itself and is more susceptible to damage. However, with hundreds of moisturizers on the market, it is important to know which ingredients to look for, and which skin care products to avoid. Choosing the right moisturizer leads to firmer, toned skin and the prevention of aging.

Read on to learn about powerful and effective skin care ingredients that have firming and moisturizing properties.

Neuropeptides

Neuropeptides are small, protein-like molecules that neurons use to communicate. When used in skin care products, these special molecules boost production of collagen and elastin and increase circulation.

Neuropeptides can have a number of positive effects on the skin including:

  • Surface renewal of the dermis
  • More toned, supple, and resilient skin
  • Lines and wrinkles smoothed
  • Diminished appearance of sagging skin

DMAE

DMAE occurs in the brain in small amounts to facilitate the synthesis of a neurotransmitter acetylcholine, which carries messages from nerves to muscles. When applied to the skin, DMAE helps help the skin to renew itself and maintain a healthy moisture balance.

DMAE improves skin’s elasticity because it renews and restores skin cells. Because acetylcholine is involved with muscle activity, DMAE creams also help to firm the skin by working to stimulate increased tone in the muscles behind the face.

Phospholipids

Phospholipids attract water from the air and hold water where hydration is needed. Damaging environmental factors such as sun, wind, and pollution can strip natural phospholipid content from the top layer of the skin, resulting in rough skin. Moisturizing with products that contain phospholidics is a great way to replace this natural layer.

Phospholipids attract water from the air and hold water where hydration is needed. Damaging environmental factors such as sun, wind, and pollution can strip natural phospholipid content from the top layer of the skin. This loss results in rough skin and a pitted appearance. Moisturizing with products that contain phospholidics is a great way to replace this natural protective layer.

Perricone MD’s Neuropeptide Firming Moisturizer contains Neuropeptides, DMAE, and Phospholipids to moisturize, lift, tone, and repair skin. It works to restore what the skin has lost over time and keeps skin looking young and resilient.

  1. I have been so scared of wearing moisturiser on my face due to deep pores, and combination skin along with acne that I could not imagine a product that would make this possible. being able to transform my skin from its present state to where it was when I was young is amazing. the texture, tone, and feel of my skin is something less to be desired. but to have healthy, sexy, soft, and luxurious skin finely in the rest of my adult life, too emotional for words.. need I say more?

  2. I just turned 47 and used to be allergic to everything! Now my skin allergies have calmed down, my facial skin has turned dry and I have a line on my neck that just appeared! I cannot find a moisturizer that works for me . I am very interested in a moisturizer with Phospholipids now that I have read your blog. I know growing older is a part of life, but I want to have great skin!

  3. I never tried this perricone brand before. Sounds great. I would love to try their products and write comments on them.

  4. These products sound so amazing! I would love to try them and write a review.

  5. My skin isn’t one to take care of itself, and I find that I have over 10 moisturizers in my house at one time. It’s hard to find something that really works and doesn’t leave oily residues behind, or that will actually make a difference.

I am always looking for a good new moisturizer, I don’t know where I’d be without moisturizer, so I would love to test yours out!

  6. I would love to test this product! Heck, I’d love to test them all. They sound fabulous!

  7. I have never heard of phospholipids. This helps me to understand why moisturizers never seem to work great for me. I have very rough skin, this product seems like it would work for me.

Being a tester for Perricone MD would be a great way for me to learn more about the different ways skin treatments work for me.

  8. The neuropeptide firmining mosturizere is simply the best. I have oily skin that is sagging and a few wrinkles. It does not make my face greasy, but my face is more firm. You just use a little, so it lasts a long time, so the price is not but, but alot cheaper than botox and just as effective.

  9. I have combination skin – that could use some toning, too – and have trouble finding a moisturizer that works well for me. So, I am happy to learn about this product and the ingredients to look for.

I would love to become a product tester! I feel like I’m constantly doing it at home :)
