Spa facials are a great way to rejuvenate and revitalize your skin, but what about electric facials? It sounds shocking but it is a new celebrity approved treatment featured in this November’s ELLE magazine. Dr. Perricone was interviewed for the article and shared his expertise with ELLE readers.
What Is An Electric Facial?
Electric facials deliver 1/1,000,000 of an amp to stimulate the muscles of the face and neck. Unlike botox, electric facials don’t involve neurotoxins, which immobilize facial muscles.
Dr. Perricone said, “If you look at the cheekbones, the forehead, the temples, the jawline of someone young, they come out in an arc away from the face. They bulge out,” he said.
Electric facials help build convexities in the face, which are what Dr. Perricone said make your skin look youthful. He shared that electrostim keeps the muscles plump and active, correcting the loss of convexities. Dr. Perricone said electric facials can be used to increase muscle mass and increase symmetry in the face.
In the article, Dr. Perricone dissuades readers from using harmful neurotoxins. He believes this new treatment of microcurrents plus the right diet and topicals is the best antiwrinkle strategy.
