DMAE Cream to Lift and Firm Skin
DMAE, an abbreviation for dimethylaminoethanol, is a nonirritating antioxidant base that works to protect cells and rejuvenate skin, often in combination with amino acids and other nutrients.
Studies suggest that DMAE can play a role in making skin firmer, smoother, and brighter, while also reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Dr. Perricone includes DMAE in 16 of his products, ranging from dietary dmae supplements and moisturizers to skin smoothers.

Effects of topical DMAE on skin
A multi-center, double-blind study designed to determine the safety of topical DMAE found that DMAE facilitated statistically significant improvements in the appearance of the skin. In this study, 156 participants at three different centers applied either a moisturizer containing DMAE or a DMAE-free placebo. Every 2 weeks, for an 18-week period, a dermatologist assessed the participants’ skin and rated improvement on a scale from 0 to 9.
In addition to showing virtually no irritation or dryness resulting from DMAE use, the study also produced proof of its efficacy as an anti-aging treatment. The dermatologists noted significant improvement in:
- Overall appearance of aging skin
- Forehead lines
- Coarse wrinkles
- Eye area
- Lip area and smile lines
- Sagging skin
Perricone MD also performed his own studies on the effects of topical DMAE on various parts of the body that could benefit from lifting and tightening, including the face (particularly the eye area, lips, and jawline), neck, thighs, and buttocks area. He found that treatments that include DMAE both work quickly and provide lasting results. Many people see visible effects within 30 minutes of using a DMAE treatment that last up to 24 hours, and repeated application of the treatment can help create permanent effects.
Face
Dr. Perricone studied DMAE’s ability to increase skin firmness by applying DMAE lotion to one side of 17 participants’ faces and necks. After about 30 minutes, a dermatologist and a cosmetics expert judged the difference between the treated and untreated sides of the participants’ faces. They observed a visible improvement on the treated side that appeared to last 24 hours after just one application.
Once participants began using DMAE cream every day, they achieved even more dramatic results. DMAE promotes the production of acetylcholine, which is responsible for creating muscle tone and movement. Topical DMAE treatments can increase in muscle tone in the face to help create a lifted and more youthful appearance. Some of Dr. Perricone’s patients even reported that the tips of their noses appeared to lift, in response to a newly tightened forehead.
Neck and Jawline
DMAE cream has the same firming effects on the neck and jawline. With just one application, the skin tone of the neck improved. With several weeks of regular application, patients’ jawlines appeared more defined.
Eyes
One of the most visible improvements that DMAE’s skin-tightening ability can bring about is an “eye lift” effect in creams and treatments targeted to that area.
Dr. Perricone’s eye lift cream combines DMAE with alpha lipoic acid and vitamin C ester to treat sagging and fine lines around the eyes and encourage a natural, visibly lifted look to the eyelids and surrounding skin.
Lips
DMAE, in combination with other antioxidants, can also produce a lip plumping effect. DMAE in products like Dr. Perricone’s Lip Plumper helps to increase circulation to the lips, making them look fuller and firmer.
DMAE can also address thin or lined skin around the lips.
Thighs and Buttocks
In stronger concentrations, DMAE may even address dimpling in the thighs and buttocks.

I am a 56 year old dancer & instructor. In this day and age retirement is not an option for me for several years yet. I saw you on Dr Oz show. I was looking to see products that have the dmae & came across this web site. I’m 55 with RA & osteoporosis for 10yrs plus & on lots of meds. I,too saw the Dr. Oz show. I was so impressed I saw a night cream at VitaminWorld in Clovis, Ca. that contained DMAE…I have been using it nightly for 4 weeks and I have seen a nice difference, especially around my eyes. I have tried numerous products to help fight the sagging Turkey neck, deep forehead wrinkles, and wonderful pouches of cellulite and dimples that seem to be finding comfort and homage in various areas across my body… I personally didn’t invite these happenings, but apparently aging has a mind of its own. I am about to turn 64 and most people say that I don’t look it. (I certainly don’t feel like it.) I exercise and eat right (most of the time)and I try to take care of my skin. But since I have been out of work since July I am having a hard time even buying the basic stuff. I would love to be a tester. I would not sabotage the regimen with bad habits.
I am 61 and still break out. The dermatologist said I have rosacea and gave me a prescription for Metro gel. EXPENSIVE and not so sure it has improved anything. I have large pores and acne scarring. I saw Dr Perricone on Dr Oz and felt confident that such a well respected physician would do his homework on a product he was allowing to be discussed on his show. There are a million products out there (I feel like I have tried most of them!)with minimal results and at great expense. I am not interested in surgical and unnatural looking (fillers) procedures. I am 50. Although I eat relatively healthy and exersize I feel discouraged that my skin has become very dry over the last year and is rapidly aging. I just watched Dr. Perricone on Dr. Oz and I would like to try the DMAE cream. It’s been almost 3 years since I’ve had a consistence sleep ever since my son was born and it has shown on my face, especially around my eyes. I am a 37 year old mother of 2, employed full time, and attend online classes full time. In my late twenties, early thirties I modeled and looked like I was 20 years old.

I currently use the Advanced Firming Activator. I am 46 years old and have lost 60lbs through diet and exercise over the past 10 months. My skin on the other hand needs all the help it can get. It lacks tone and firmness. And the wrinkles around my eyes got worse with every pound I lost. And my neck, it’s hard for me to even look at.
I bought the Wrinkle Cure kit to try Dr. Perricone’s products for the first time. I really like the Advanced Face Firming Activator and felt a difference almost immediately. I would like to try other products that would complement this one. I am almost 50 and have lines around the eyes and sagging in my face and neck. I don’t want to look old because I don’t FEEL old. I’m just not certain what to try next.
Watched Dr. Perricone on PBS. I pulled up his name to see what I could find. I am 43 years old, have wrinkles around my eyes when I smile and have sun damage. I start my junior year in college at University of Florida in 3 weeks. Would love something that made me not look so ancient compared to all the 21 year old Nursing students.
