Alpha Lipoic Acid: Topical Cream, Moisturizers and More

While Alpha Lipoic Acid supplements help target and protect the cell processes inside the body, ALA is also thought to be effective for improving skin’s appearance when applied as a topical cream. Dr. Perricone’s line of anti-aging skin products includes a combination of over 10 facial cleansers, creams, toners, and moisturizers. Each designed to to help reduce discoloration, as well as sun and free radical damage, to help reveal soft, luminous skin.

This article will discuss:

This Perricone Best Seller is formulated with high concentrations of the active ingredient, Alpha Lipoic Acid (ALA). Beauty editors, skin-care experts, and celebrities alike have become life-long Perricone fans after using Advanced Face Firming Activator and its predecessor, Face Firming Activator.

For more on Alpha Lipoic Acid, listen to Dr. Perricone’s explanation in this video:

One of the key ingredients in Face Firming Activator is Sodium Hyaluronate (SH). SH is the primary water-maintaining substance in human skin. Poor diet and age can decrease the amount of SH in skin, leaving it dry and rough to the touch. When applied to the surface of skin, Sodium Hyaluronate is thought to form an air-permeable layer and keep the skin moist and smooth.

Purpose
Helps to firm, tone, and prevents further damage. Fine lines and wrinkles diminish as skin’s texture becomes more smooth.

Key Ingredients

  1. Alpha Lipoic Acid
    • Universal antioxidant protection
    • Refines skin texture
    • Reduces pores and puffiness
  2. DMAE
    • Thought to possess skin-firming power
    • Helps lift and tighten skin
    • Helps to fade fine lines and wrinkles
  3. Sodium Hyaluronate
    • Helps lock in moisture
    • Helps hydrate to renew skin’s suppleness

Good toners help smooth and resurface skin without causing irritation. The Perricone product, Skin Clear Toner, is an anti-bacterial, anti-microbial toner that helps remove residual surface debris and oil, and it comes with Perricone coupons to further decrease the costs. It is designed to penetrate pores to aid in eliminating excess sebum and prevent blemishes from forming. It included salicylic acid to provide gentle exfoliation.

Salicylic acid was originally derived from the willow tree and has been used since the time of ancient Greeks. In fact, its name comes from the Latin word for willow tree, Salix. Even Hippocrates, the ancient Greek physician who is regarded as the father of western medicine, claimed extracts of  willow tree bark had pain-relieving properties and helped to reduce fevers. Salicylic acid’s uses have changed since the ancient Greek era. Now it is most frequently used as a peeling agent for facial skin. This is why salicylic acid is often found in adult acne products.

Now, salicylic acid has taken on a new role, joining ranks of anti-inflammatories in the battle against aging. Unlike other dermatologists, Dr. Perricone believes that salicylic acid is an antioxidant due to its ability to absorb free radicals, particularly hydroxl radical, an especially damaging variety. When salicylic acid absorbs the hydroxl radical, the chemical makeup of the acid actually changes. Researchers have concluded that salicylic acid can function as a chemical trap for free radicals. Dr. Perricone believes that it will soon be regarded as as a respected anti-aging remedy.

The Face Finishing Moisturizer

Moisturizers help hydrate skin and rejuvenate its texture to keep a smooth, even tone. Too often, consumers find that certain moisturizers either don’t provide adequate hydration or leave their skin feeling oily. Dr. Perricone’s Face Finishing Moisturizer contains three essential ingredients to help keep all skin types fresh and soft.

One of those ingredients is dimethylaminoethanol, better known as DMAE. DMAE has a unique molecular structure. Unlike other antioxidants, it becomes part of the cell plasma membrane and helps create a more stable, stress-free cell. Often called “brain food,” this antioxidant is found in fish. Many people take oral supplements of DMAE to boost cognitive function, but Dr. Perricone also believes that DMAE can improve skin when applied topically.

Vitamin C, the third key ingredient in the Face Finishing Moisturizer, is another antioxidant champion. Dr. Perricone has found that vitamin C can play a role restoring skin to a vibrant, youthful state. Vitamin C is necessary for the production of collagen, the connective tissue that holds the human body together. It also has the ability to prevent inflammatory arachindonic acid formation and transform already existing arachindonc acid into a less damaging substance.

Formulated with powerful antioxidants to help firm skin and minimize fine lines and wrinkles.

  1. Alpha Lipoic Acid

  6. Nice blog as for me. I’d like to read something more concerning that matter.

  7. The Made from Earth Vitamin Enhanced Moisturizer saved my face!!

In my late twenties, I tried just about every moisturizer I could find including rarified ingredient boutique lotions but my skin remained dry, hot, itchy, flaky, and I was seeing laugh lines around my eyes. I was about to give up hope until my mother, whowho has AMAZING skin, brought me the organic Made from Earth “Vitamin Enhanced Moisturizer”…

On the occasions I do try other lotions, they never measure up.

My skin thanked me after the first application. After a few days, it looked better, was less red, less chapped. Within a month or two (or less, I don’t remember after 3 years) I had no lines near my eyes, my skin feels soft and comfortable unless I abuse it. When I abuse it, this lotion makes it feel better. People consistently guess my age to be 5-8 years younger than I am even though I have grey hair.

I almost never need more than a tiny amount the size of a pencil eraser to cover my face, neck and hands. (Keep the cap or it dries out.) I recommend it to anyone looking for a facial moisturizer that works as good or better than advertised. Absolutely worth the money since it last for a good 3 month period.

  8. Please consider me as a tester. Thankyou
